Increase Engagement with LinkedIn Voice Message Feature

LinkedIn has introduced a new voice feature that lets its users record and send one minute long voice messages. The best thing about having a voice record message option is that it takes the effort out of writing a perfectly drafted message that can be misinterpreted due to the absence of ‘tone’ of the message. This feature has been long requested by LinkedIn users so it’s already a big hit but if you haven’t used this feature yet, let us show you how it works. Just make sure that you are using the mobile app if you want to utilise this feature as it’s not available on the desktop version. This feature works on LinkedIn like it does on most apps that offer voice message option such as WhatsApp and Instagram. Here are the three simple steps to use this feature;

  • When you want to record a message, just tap and hold the microphone icon as you speak.
  • Once you are done recording the message, release your finger to send the message.
  • If you were not able to record an ideal message, you can delete the message by sliding your finger away from the microphone icon while still holding it.

How will this feature benefit you?

  • It’s faster than text messaging so it is a quicker and easier process to communicate, especially if you are explaining complex ideas.
  • Instead of directly calling the recipient, leaving a voice message can be great for them to hear and get back to you when they have time.
  • Voice messages come across as more personal and authentic as compared to the robotic tone of a text message.

We believe that it is a great feature that will contribute to the productivity and efficiency of communication. We just need to be a little careful about who we are communicating to and when is the right time to send a voice message. Are you using LinkedIn for your business to its full potential?
